Episode two of Game of Thrones Season 7, Stormborn, is out and we have the data.

**SPOILER NOTES: There are two parts to this post. In the first, we won’t go into the details of what happened in the episode but we’ll tell you which characters were mentioned most and when spikes in mentions occur. In the second, we’ll tell you exactly what the top mentioned moments are. Big time spoilers. You’ve been warned.**

Stormborn: Top line stats

  • We tracked 38,290 mentions of the show as it aired between 9:00 and 10:01pm ET on Sunday 23rd July. This is a lot less than episode 1 at 97,590
  • The biggest spike in mentions came at 9:59pm, with 1,300 mentions in a single minute
  • 56% of gender-categorized authors were female, 44% male

The non-specific highlights

Mentions peaked in the action-packed final scene of the show. If you’re getting bored in the middle of this episode, the end is worth the wait.

Generally, the first half is fairly underwhelming (only around 500 mentions per minute) if mentions are anything to go by.

Jon Snow crowned king of episode 2

Overall, Jon Snow was the top-mentioned character of the episode.

He was followed by Grey Worm and Daenerys Targaryen, who were neck and neck for second and third place. Following them was Arya (who had the top place last week) and then Samwell Tarly.

5. Grey Worm and Missandei get naked (9:31 p.m. ET – Around 770 mentions)

I hope you weren’t watching this part with your parents.

4. The episode begins and we find Daenerys holding court at Dragonstone (9 p.m. ET – Around 850 mentions)

Daenerys is laying out plans to oust Queen Cersei when Mellisandre turns up.

3. Arya’s reunion with Hot Pie (9:39 p.m. ET – Around 890 mentions)

This hearty reunion scene sees Arya change her mind about heading to King’s Landing, instead opting to rejoin her siblings in the North. It’s been a long time since they all appeared together on screen.

2. Sam slices the greyscale from Jorah’s body (9:37 p.m. ET – Around 920 mentions)

Fans of pimple-popping videos probably won’t find this as disturbing as everyone else, but the transition between Jorah’s yellow, puss-y greyscale and someone eating a creamy pie had a lot of people trying not to vom.

1. Theon’s act of cowardice in the final scene (9:59 p.m. ET – Around 1,300 mentions)

Following violent scenes as Euron attacks the Greyjoy siblings’ ships, Theon is confronted by his evil uncle with a blade to his sister’s neck. Instead of fighting, he decides to jump into the sea and watch as everything burns around him. To be fair, it was all getting a bit gory aboard ship as Euron’s men began collecting tongues from the injured.

You may have noticed that Jon Snow wasn’t involved in the top-mentioned moments. This is because it was a number of things that made him top-mentioned character. His attack on Little Finger, warning him to stay away from Sansa, and a possible meeting between him and Daenerys were large parts of the conversation surrounding him.
