One of the key things I love about Brandwatch is the opportunity to work with ambitious, intelligent, friendly and hardworking people, everyday.

Even though we’re split between six offices worldwide, and we’re a diverse bunch with over 22 nationalities in the team, all Brandwatchers make a collaborative effort to get to know each other and make our work environment the absolute best it can be.

As we’d love you to find out more about the people behind the product, this week in the third edition of the “Inside Brandwatch” series, I’ve spoken to our Community Manager for Spanish-speaking markets, Leyre Cabañas, who is based in our Brighton office.

Originally from Bilbao in Spain, Leyre has been living in the UK for five years. When the economic crisis hit Spain, she decided it was the right time to make a change as she had been working in the same agency for eight years:

“I just packed my suitcase, booked a plane ticket and left for Brighton!”

Screen Shot 2014-11-27 at 1.11.25 PMWhen I was little, I wanted to be Indiana Jones. I found the Indie culture fascinating and I would go to bed dreaming about ancient civilizations and stumbling across hidden treasures.

At school, I was reading all the time! When I was going shopping with my parents, they would just leave me in the Books department and they knew for sure they’d find me there.

I ended up studying journalism whilst attending a graphic design course as well, which allowed me to express my creativity.

“During my Uni years, I took drama classes which helped me with building self-confidence and developing interpersonal skills.”

One of my favourite memories is producing a short film together with some fellow colleagues, all happening over one weekend spent in a beautiful cottage in North of Spain.

he funniest moment was filming the ending, when I was supposed to die, so we had to do over 20 takes. Faking death was harder than I had ever imagined… holding your breath for a long time is definitely not a strength of mine!

My journey with Brandwatch began when one of my friends saw the job ad and thought the position would be a great fit for me. And she was right: I’ve been working here for six month and I am enjoying every moment.

My job entails managing our Spanish-speaking community, which involves: making sure our Spanish website looks great, updating our blog with new content in Spanish every week, and also running our Twitter and Facebook accounts in Spanish. Are you already following us?

“The most rewarding aspect of my job is being part of such a highly motivated, intelligent and hardworking team. It’s challenging, which I love, but it also helps me develop and learn new things every day.”

Don’t take our word for it, find out yourself what working at Brandwatch is like!
